Pure 1987 Detroit electro pressure back in circulation - two cuts of Juan Atkins’ highest grade machine funk originally issued on Cliff Thomas’ legendary Express Records, now remastered and re-housed on Metroplex. Running adjacent to Metroplex during a pivotal, game-changing phase of Detroit club music, Express Records delivered foundational, formative work by everyone from Sherard Ingram (DJ Stingray, Urban Tribe) to Marc Kitchen, “Reckless” Ron Cook and Juan Atkins. The latter two would later work as Audio Tech, but ‘I'm Your Audio Tech’ is Juan on his ones, serving a fiercer, Miami Bass-ed type of electro, evident in its trunk rattling formula of 808, vocoder, orchestral drum pomp and string stabs that come particularly hard and slashing on its ‘Tech Mix’, which has lost none of its ability to mercilessly fling limbs nearly 40 years later.
